About Us
Discus World

Discusworld  Discus Fish Hatchery moved from Hervey Bay Qld  and is located in North Brisbane.

Background: As an adolescent l developed a passion for the magnificent splendour of discus fish, this passion was re-ignited 5 years ago when after starting an aquarium business I decided to stock discus as one of my lines. By supplying them with superior habitat and water conditions they spawned effortlessly and began raising their young. This was something that I had failed to achieve as an adolescent aquarist all those years ago. My beautiful brown discus would spawn every fortnight, however they always failed to raise their young. Having had the Discus spawn in my shop and raise their young with people everywhere I decided that most of the rules of raising discus were just myth. I decided to create my own rules which entailed perfecting nutrition, water management and spawning triggers.

Where we are today: We have now moved to North Brisbane where we have constructed what I believe to be one of the most state of the art discus and angel breeding facilities in the Country. We have shifted our focus from being a retail store to a fulltime aquaculture facility.   This means that we now only sell online.

Our Aim: At Discus World our goal is to provide quality discus at an affordable price to the hobbyist so that they may one day experience the wonder of their own discus nurturing their young. We also endeavour to provide all the information that you will require to become a successful discus keeper and have many years of enjoyment.

Discus
Since their introduction into the hobby in the 1930’s, Discus have been treated with near reverence, no other fish have produced such an array of colours in so many combinations equaling the vibrant marine fish in splendour. Many have dubbed this fish King of aquarium fish.

With its fantastic colours and stately behaviour it is hard to disagree. There has been much mystique about how they should be kept, unfortunately this frightens off prospective discus enthusiasts. A healthy discus even in poor conditions will usually outlive many aquarium fish, but if you follow a few simple procedures you will find they are not that hard to keep.
